Well, we were back to see the Carolina Hurricanes again last night. Before knowing we'd get free tickets last week, we had purchased these tickets. Micah & Zion (along with Bobby) are huge hockey fans. Micah even knows the names of most of the guys on the team. So I guess it was fitting that this week was fan appreciation week.
To say thanks to all the fans they had a big shindig set up outside the arena for the fans to participate in. We got there a little early so we could enjoy the fun. They had street hockey, jumpy things, and a hockey shoot (also a live band that was good but so loud you thought your ear drums were going to burst).
Bobby, Caleb & Abi snuck in early to the game while I let the others play all the fun stuff outside. They staked out the food joints & we all took advantage of dollar dog night. You can't beat $1.00 for a hot dog while watching hockey. I took the other three kids into the arena a little later. While trying to make it thru the maze of people to find our seat, we were stopped by a worker & asked if one of our kids would like to be a part of one of the promotional games they do during breaks in the hockey game. I knew our hockey guru, Micah, would be perfect. He was way nervous, but we were all super excited for the game to start so we could see Micah have his one minute of fame.
We were up in the nose-bleed section this time around. Everyone but Trin was cool with it. She got over the fear once all the commotion of the game started.
Then the time came for Micah to meet up with the arena worker to have his jumbo tron debut. Bobby & Zion got to go with him down to the ice to watch him firsthand. The worker told Micah they would ask him a question and most likely the crowd would help him out if he didn't know the answer. Well as you'll see in the clip below they showed him parts of one of the players faces & he had to guess the player. As luck would have it, no one in the crowd screamed out the answer (and even Bobby drew a blank), but thankfully the producers & cameraman helped out on the sly so he'd win. And he won a Hurricanes jersey signed by Jussi Jokinen...very cool indeed! He was extremely nervous (you can note the lip licking which is his nervous twitch), but he did a great job. I think that was the highlight of our night. We now have a star in our midst.

The Hurricanes lost in overtime, but we still all had a fabulous time. That will be one game that we all will remember for quite sometime.
