Let's Go Canes!!

Being a policeman does have some benefits!  This week the PNC Arena gave lots of free hockey tickets to police & their family, and of course we couldn't say no to free seats to see the Carolina Hurricanes.  So, we packed up our family & dinner supplies to go see a hockey game and do some tailgating (a first for the us...but definitely not the last).

The kids played a little while dad grilled up some burgers (and they were delicious).

Then it was off to the stadium to watch the Canes warm up before the game.

Zion & Trin worked their magic to get front row seats for the warmup & enjoyed being up close to the players.

Zion even got to high-five Stormy (and was extremely proud of himself too).

We all had our one shining moment when our family was shown on the jumbotron.  Thankfully Abi thought to take a quick picture with her phone so our fame can live on.

And finally the game begins.  We had great seats.  Well, anything would be great when it is free, but these were on the lower level -- we would never buy 7 tickets that close (we're usually in the nosebleed section & happy with that).

Canes win 3-1 and there was some good fights too (which always makes the game much more interesting).  As you can see below after the final buzzer, the benches all emptied with everyone wanting to get a piece of the action.

It was a late night getting home (especially on a school night), but well worth it! We all had a blast and actually will be doing it all again next Friday night when the Hurricanes take on the Jets (I actually had to look that up because although I do enjoy watching hockey in person, I am not the avid fan like Bobby).  But I will confess when we go to games you'll find me yelling "Let's Go Canes", jumping up & screaming when we score, and acting like I know all about hockey--surely that has to count for something.
