We have purchased a camper within the last month or so from Bobby's uncle and aunt (which is something Bobby has wanted for a while now and thankfully the Lord supplied one for us) So we thought a wise thing to do was do a trial run close to home and see how everything goes. (aren't we the smart ones...not really, but this was a very good idea my husband had) We made a list as we went along to see what were things we found to be necessities or just even things we would like to have. For me a coffee maker was a necessity and thankfully we already had it, but we didn't think about bringing fresh water (the water at this particular campground smelled stank...to put it nicely). My wonderful hubby went and got water for us in the morning so we could all enjoy a good pot of coffee. We left home Saturday afternoon and came home Sunday late afternoon, and it was a great break from reality into serenity. We both agreed that even though we were twenty minutes from home it really felt like we were hours away...like up in the mountains somewhere...so peaceful. The kids had an absolute blast. Of course they were not ready to come home. They fished until their hearts were content. Well not actually...they were even fishing as were packing up to leave. I think the final count was Micah -12, Caleb -4, Trinity -1, Zion & Dad & Mom all had bites but lost those fish. Now if we can get them to take their own fish off the hook we'll be doing something. Bobby was becoming a pro at it although it isn't his favorite thing to do either. Of course we had to have a campfire and roast hotdogs and marshmallows for smores (camping wouldn't be the same without smores for our family). I even broke the diet and had one...o.k. maybe two. The kids brought their bikes and could ride around as much as they wanted. We even brought Dixie who thought she had died and gone to doggy heaven with a pond to swim in. We enjoyed a peaceful walk in the morning and a few games of Phase 10 and Uno also(which I must say Bobby and I were tied with one win a piece in Phase 10). The key words are relax and enjoy each other. We are already planning another trip to a different campground. For someone who didn't grow up camping...I think I'm starting to get the hang of it and enjoying it.

Looks like such a good time. I love how it's possible to have a vacation not far from home. We're learning how to do that better, since it's hard to escape the city.
