The Artsy One

Caleb really enjoys art (which he doesn't get from me). He loves to draw things (I guess his perfectionist trait comes in handy here), and his talent paid off this week. He had two of his art drawings from school make it to the NCCSA (North Carolina Christian School Association) Fine Arts competition. He had a drawing go last year, but he came in 4th place with it which was an accomplishment in itself. He was hoping to do better this year, and that he did.

This is his chalk drawing (the orange flower). He earned a 1st place ribbon for it...WooHoo!!

This is his pencil drawing (the dog). He also earned a first place ribbon for it...double WooHoo!

There are a few 1st place winners in each category. Then, they choose a best in show (an overall #1) from those who earned the 1st place ribbon. We were very proud that he won best in show for his pencil drawing of the dog. Bobby was able to take off work to surprise Caleb and see him get is award. I haven't seen the drawings in person yet (thankfully Bobby took pictures for me to see them). Bobby said they both were excellent (of course he'd say that...how could you say anything bad about your son's work) ;0) , but he really loved the dog one!

Way to go, Caleb! We're super proud of you and all the work you put into your drawings. Keep up the hard work. Oh, and I'm glad you got your Papa's art ability and not your mine.
