Once again, we learned a new thing from our garden. I had been told not to plant our cucumbers and canteloupes next to each other, so we planted them a row apart...not far enough. They cross-polinate so we ended up with cucaloupes. They were small round canteloupe looking things (except they kept a greenish tint instead of looking like a normal canteloupe). But, when you cut into them they were cucumbers...that didn't taste quite right. We did have one that was sort of canteloupey in the middle, but tasted horrible. So, next year we'll be planing two separate gardens for things that cross polinate. Oh well...you live and learn...we'll get this all right eventually.

That's hilarious and educational! Our garden of two tomato plants didn't do so well. It was a lot of work for very little produce...

LOL! Never knew that... I'll have to remember that to teach my students. lol Just think of it this way... all of life is learning so this is a great example for your kids that grown ups still learn by "mistakes." LOL :)
