Let the soccer season officially begin! We LaTours love soccer, so of course we love watching our kids play. Caleb is in his second year of JV soccer at school, and they had two games & a scrimmage last week. Monday night we had an away game in Winston Salem, Tuesday a home game, and Thursday a scrimmage match. We try and make it to all of his games, whether home or away. Last year we were able to do that, and we're planning on doing the same this year. There is nothing like being there in person to cheer the team on.
The first game wasn't a wonderful game. They lost 4-1 (I believe) & played their best soccer in the fist half. But hey, it's the first game & they are still working the kinks out. We're proud of them all (especially #2) no matter what the outcome. But I can see a difference in Caleb since last year. He is no longer the youngest, shortest player on the team. He is coming into his own, growing (okay, maybe there has been just a little growing, but still every inch counts), and getting in there to lock legs with the bigger kids.
Tuesday's game was a different story. We went home with a 1-0 WIN! This is a big deal, seeing they didn't win any games last year at all & only tied one game. So you can see that having a victory this early in the season could really be a boost for the team.
We're already looking forward to an away game on Tuesday. Hopefully we'll be there on the side lines to cheer them on. Go Warriors!!
