Beaching It

Well, it's that time again for our annual LaTour vacation.  This year the destination was the beach.  We went down on Wednesday & made an extra long weekend out of it with all of Bobby's family.  Of course the weather was checked before packing & it looked like it was going to be a gorgeous weekend.  And if you just looked at the temperature, we were correct--mid 70's to mid 80's--sounds great to me.  I guess we didn't factor in the wind because with a 20 mph wind, mid 70's is cold!! A sweatshirt was purcahsed by me & I wore it practically the whole time.  The beach itself was rather crazy with the rip currents & waves.

Below is what we saw daily ...usually by 9:00 a.m.  Thankfully we went out a little early each day & let the kids get in the water before the lifeguards came by to put the flags up.  Kind of frustrating but honestly it was so cold on the beach, that I didn't want to sit there anyway.  I was just fine lounging on the porch reading my book, although it got a little windy on the porch too.

But who can complain when you're at the beach.  You just go with the flow & make the best of it!

So with a house full of kids (and adults) & no swimming to be had, we did a lot of walking & playing at the house.

Of course while walking on the boardwalk we had to visit Duck Donuts at least a couple of times to have hot, fresh donuts & delicious coffee.  Yummy!!

We watched the sun set a couple of the nights we were there.  Rather perty! (that's southern for pretty)

Zion & Micah even resorted to having their toenails painted by Sage.

On our way home we stopped in at the Wright Brothers Memorial to take a little field trip.  We went here two years ago, but we couldn't pass up the opportunity one more time.  The kids are at the right ages to learning about the Wright brothers in school, so it's neat that they can visit the places they learn about.

Although it would have been nice to have been able to actually swim in the ocean, we all made the best of it & enjoyed our time together. Hopefully our beach trip in August with my family will make up for the "No Swimming" flags this time around, but if not we'll have fun in our own ways.
