Our garden is starting to reap it's harvest. Right now we have cucumbers, squash & peppers daily. Soon the cantaloupe, butter beans & okra will be coming in. We are also picking a garden for a friend while they are on vacation, so we have lots of green beans & blackberries too. (already made one batch of blackberry jam & two batches of strawberry jam--have I mentioned I love fresh fruits & veggies!)
There is nothing like veggies out of your own back yard, but it is a lot of work to get that stage. This year Bobby started around April getting the soil ready for planting. We knew we were going to have build some sort of fence this time around to keep the deer out. But first the tilling & removing all the grass out of the garden must happen. The kids pitched in & did their part too, but Bobby was the main gardener.

Then the beginning of May Bobby built the fence around the garden & planted.
And now as of today, the garden is luscious & giving us many veggies to consume. We've got so much that we're giving some away. I'm anxiously awaiting the okra & cantaloupe. We forgot to plant zucchini this year, but thankfully my dad planted it & I've already enjoyed some fresh zucchini bread. You can't beat freshness!!

I love our garden, too. We're eating a salad tonight from the lettuce and cucumbers in our garden, plus tomatoes and peppers from my Mom and Dad's since ours aren't quite ready. It is great!
