This past week was elementary Fine Arts competitions for our school. Caleb & Micah were involved in the festivities this year, so they traveled to the hosting school (Gospel Light Christian School) Wednesday, Thursday, & Friday for competition.
The uniform had to be white dress shirt, black pants, black dress shoes & conservative tie. Seeing my boys had no black dress shoes, black dress pants, or white dress shirts that fit correctly...we had some shopping to do. It was all worth it though. They looked extremely handsome, if I say so myself.
On Wednesday Micah went for Art and Caleb went for Band. Caleb's band (all of 5th grade) got a second place ribbon. Micah won a few awards for art. He had 3 pieces go to the competition (which in and of itself is an accomplishment). He won a second place ribbon on one, and then first place ribbons on the other two. The chalk tree drawing won the Award of Excellence (which is top of all the drawings that got a first place ribbon)--rather impressive if I say so myself.
The picture below is of all the art winners and our art teacher, Mrs. Stephens. Our school actually took home the trophy as the over all art winner this year. That is a huge deal seeing that the hosting school has taken this trophy for the past 6 years. Yeah ACS!!!
On Thursday Micah competed in Sword Drill (which is where the kids see who can find a certain Bible reference the fastest). In the 3rd grade competition, Micah got four the quickest. They got beat overall, but that's okay. It's just being involved that makes it fun.
On Friday, Caleb & Micah both had vocal ensemble performances. Micah sang with a small group from his class.
Caleb sang with the 5th & 6th grade chorus. They did great as well.
Another school year has almost come to a close (and I'm counting down the days 'til summer!!). I'm thankful that the kids are learning not only academics, but they have the opportunity to succeed in fine arts as well.

Finally have a rare moment when both kids are asleep in the morning, and I have to do something while I eat breakfast, right? So fun to catch up on your blog again! You have beautiful children! Love the Easter pics. Looks like y'all had so much fun at your Easter gathering.
It was good to see you that weekend, even if only in passing. :) Hope summer comes quickly for you.
