For a family that loves camping as much as we do, we have not been able to camp a lot this year, unfortunately. It's always nice to have big hopes & dreams of spending many weekends away camping as a family, but it just hasn't been that kind of reality for us. As the kids get older we get busier & busier, but it's a good kind of busy so I'm definitely not complaining. Add to that fact that Bobby works every other weekend...well, that doesn't leave us much free time, but we've learned to use what we've got as good as we can.
I happened to glance over our calendar for the rest of the year (just to plan out in my head our life for the next couple of months) & I realized that if we had any hopes of camping before next spring, this past weekend would be the time to go. It didn't take much convincing to get the rest of the family on board. The weather was looking great & to add to the fun, our school was having their cross country state championships on the trails at the campground we were staying in. How perfect is that? We got to camp & cheer on our school at the same time.
So we packed up & arrived at our campground for dinner Friday night (yummy hot dogs, mac-n-cheese, and chips).
We woke up Saturday morning & waited for Papa, MeeMaw & the Delorges to come meet us for biscuits & gravy by the campfire and cheering on the ACS cross country team. Our planning wasn't all that great, so our breakfast ended up being brunch around 10:30. But that's okay...there is no schedule when you're camping.
Now that we've acquired our own corn hole boards, we had many a game. Lots of fun!!
And of course we had to hike the trails each day we were there. It was gorgeous!
We also got in some mean games of keep-away. It is becoming all too obvious that Bobby & I are getting old, but we keep trying to hang with the kids. :)
And of course we have to visit the playground.
All in all, we'll chalk this camping trip up another wonderful time. Bobby has been working quite a lot here lately, and he commented on the way home that it really was a relaxing weekend. So I guess our trip went just as planned.
