Camping in January isn't the norm for us, but the weather hasn't been normal these days either. The camping bug has been biting us for a little while now, so we took advantage of the warmer temperatures and broke out the camper the last weekend in January. We packed up shop & hit the road after the kids got out of school on Friday. The weather was beautiful & it was a nice, much needed break from our normal routine. There is just something about sitting by the campfire at night, looking up at all the stars & being away from all the pressures of life...it's therapeutic for us.
Since it was January, the campground was all but empty (who in their right mind camps in January--only the dedicated ones). :) We pretty much had full reign of the entire place, which was actually kind of nice for a change.
Papa & Meemaw came by to eat lunch & play with us on Saturday and brought along Sage, Sydney, Shayla & Jinsan. We had some good eatin' & some good playin'. They opened up a new playground at the campground, so we had some extra fun trying out all the new stuff.
After the crew left we went on our normal hike to enjoy the sunshine, get some exercise & marvel in the beauty of God's creation.
There is always some football, soccer or softball action to add to the fun.
We got the privilege of watching our friends little one for the afternoon on that Sunday. So after he got his precious nap (I couldn't help buy snap a picture of him sleeping), we took him to the playground to join in the fun.
We had to head home late Sunday afternoon, but we couldn't have asked for a better weekend of camping. I think even Abi is starting to love camping (how could you not enjoy all the fun with our crazy family?!). I'm sure it won't be long before our next adventure.
